$987,816.51 Recovery for Lower Back Injury

Facts of Case:
On April 27, 2020, the plaintiff, C.I. was operating his car at four-way intersection located North Jersey. While employed by company E. K, the defendant, J.G.F., was operating his Ford F150 pick-up truck and made a left hand turn into the driver’s side of the plaintiff’s vehicle. During the crash investigation, the defendant, J.G.F., alleged that the plaintiff caused the accident by speeding.
The plaintiff did not seek immediate medical attention. The defendant was able to drive his vehicle from the crash scene.
As a result of the collision, the plaintiff suffered injuries to his neck, 2 herniated discs in his low back, and a tear in his left shoulder. As a consequence of the injuries, the plaintiff required low back surgery in the form of a disc fusion, and left shoulder arthroscopy.
The parties could not agree on a fair settlement, therefore, the plaintiff, C.I., filed a lawsuit in the Union County- Superior Court. During the pending litigation, the parties agreed to settle the lawsuit for $987,816.51 (the remainder of the defendant’s commercial liability policy).
